CorrSen Sensors

Sensors consist of four metal tracks with tightly controlled thickness applied on patent-protected thermally conductive but electrically insulating substrate. Three measuring tracks provide simultaneous information about corrosion loss allowing for statistical treatment and better precision of the measurement.

1

Thin and highly sensitive sensors from 400 nm to 50 µm for less corrosive indoor environments (corrosivity IC1–IC5 according to ISO 11844-1 & C1–C2 according to ISO 9223).

2

Robust sensors from 12 to 250 µm for outdoor and harsh indoor environments (C2–CX according to ISO 9223).

3

Sensors on cable for hardly-approachable monitoring locations such as crevices.

Sensor Material

  • If you want to assess the atmospheric corrosivity category according to ISO 9223 (outdoor; C1‒CX) or ISO 11844-1 (indoor; IC1‒IC5), choose the material specified in the standard.

  • If you want to monitor air corrosivity towards a specific material, choose a sensor with the composition similar to the material of your interest.

Metal Lower corrosivity High corrosivity Sensors on cable
Carbon steel Fe-50 Fe-250 Fe-50/C, Fe-250/C
Zinc Zn-50 Zn-250 Zn-50/C, Zn-250/C
Aluminum Al-0.5 Al-20 Al-0.5/C, Al-20/C
Copper Cu-0.5 Cu-12 Cu-0.5/C, Cu-12/C
Silver Ag-0.5 Ag-0.5/C
Lead Pb-0.4 Pb-25 Pb-0.4/C, Pb-25/C
Stainless steel SS-25 SS-25/C

Sensors made of other materials as well as flexible, pretreated, pre-corroded and multi-material sensors for special use can be manufactured on request.

Thickness according to expected corrosivity

  • In less corrosive environments, you obtain the best sensitivity and reasonable longevity when using the lower corrosivity CorrSen sensors.

  • In harsh environments, the high corrosivity CorrSen sensors should be used.

Compact version vs. sensors on a cable

  • Is the monitoring site easily accessible and large enough to place there the whole logger? If yes, choose the basic sensor modification with a sensor inserted to the logger.
  • If not, choose the sensor soldered on a 2-meter long cable. Note that the temperature and relative humidity measurement is not possible for this modification.
